i’m back

We finally got internet at our new place – so yes, i will begin producing words – strung together into sentences

i won’t try to describe how happy this makes me

thanks to Brian, recently engaged, for getting me hooked on this drug -

blogging; it didn’t take much.
i was already a word addict.

writing

She could give herself up to the written word as naturally as a good dancer to music or a fine swimmer to water. The only difficulty was that after finishing the last sentence she was left with a feeling at once hollow and uncomfortably full. Exactly like indigestion.

door to door

I visited all my neighbors yesterday afternoon, inviting them to stop by my apartment tonight. My roomies and I are having an open house, uh, I mean, apartment.

We spent the early part of the afternoon baking cookies and brownies and last night while my roomies were out working and at bible study, I began the task of cleaning. Before I went to bed, I paused on the stairs to survey the cleanliness of the living room and kitchen, and I’m happy to report, this apartment feels like home already.

breaking things

Today I wrecked by brother’s van. This is a bummer to say the least. After pulling to the side of the freeway where my roomate and sister met me, I was towed off the freeway and back to my apartment.

The van looks sad. A light is smashed and the front driver’s side tire is flat. It’s not worth fixing so it is now officially dead. I’ve been trying to call my brother all day with no luck.

At least I’m okay, and by tomorrow I hope to have forgiven myself – these things take time. It was a stupid mistake on my part I’d rather not go into and did not involve any other people. Like my sister said, “It happens. After all, I got into an accident because of a nose ring.” (it had fallen out and she leaned down to pick it up) – that did make me feel a little better.

I’ve also been remembering the message from last night. We are sheep. God calls us sheep over 200 times in the Bible. There are three things we need to know about sheep:
1. They are stupid 2. They are dirty 3. They are defenseless

I’m glad my God is faithful and loves me despite these characteristics. I know He will provide and I’ll be sure to let you know how this small story in the larger story of my life turns out.

PS: My brother finally returned my call and after looking at the van – there is a dim glimmer of hope – it may still be drivable. Yes! The ghetto van is alive!

still moving

and unpacking – i hope to be back with you shortly.

PS: thanks to Brian who talked me through getting my website back up after they took it down because of a late domain name payment.

– the joys of going out of town, moving and just general busyness all at once.
