THANK YOU –

to everyone who is going to and has provided feedback.

Not only do I feel SUPER encouraged, but it also helps me know how I come across to others/ and to see the effect of my strengths… as well as to DREAM about future ways to put them into ACTION.

Thank you again! I really appreciate everyone who HAS and IS GOING TO take the time to help me reflect and gain feedback.

Love Dee

StrengthsFinder

StrengthsFinder

A great tool if you want to discover more about yourself. It helped me understand my strengths, as well as put into words the things I do naturally and love to do. I went to a class tonight that discussed strengths. During the table discussion it was great to see Andrew (strategic theme) use his strength to help Kyle (input and ideation themes) see his strengths and think of possible ways to put them to use.

My Top 5 Strength Themes are (in order):

Achiever
People who are especially talented in the Achiever theme have a great deal of stamina and work hard. They take great satisfaction from being busy and productive.
for me: I love to do lists. I love checking off the things I have done. A good day is a day in which SOMETHING or MUCH was accomplished. I like to set goals, new goals, and then work towards them. Whether it’s March Madness or a lifetime goal – I love seeing goals reach and results achieved.
-
Learner
People who are especially talented in the Learner theme have a great desire to learn and want to continuously improve. In particular, the process of learning, rather than the outcome, excites them.
for me: I love reading, thinking and learning new things. I’m not so much about the facts, but about the practical implications. I love learning about individual people – their stories/struggles/joys/gifts/lives. I usually have a story from a recently read book or a new project/class I’m taking on.
-
Intellection
People who are especially talented in the Intellectuation themes are characterized by their intellectual activity. They are introspective and appreciate intellectual discussions.
for me: I love to think. Most of my thinking centers around life, the meaning & purpose of life, beauty in nature/words and people’s expressions (photography, stories, paintings, and even in everyday conversations), the struggles and joys everyone faces, God, what it means to be a Christian, how to be more efficient. I think about myself and love to think of principals, connections and ways to seeing and doing life.
-
Communication
People who are especially talented in the Communication theme generally find it easy to put their thoughts into words. They are good conversationalists and presenters.
for me: I love to put my thoughts into words. I love to help others express themselves. When I write, I write for myself, but I also write hoping that someone else will find resonance with what I say. I love to tell stories, to share new things learned, to have my life changed in a positive way and to inspire others to change/grow/learn/act.
-
Strategic
People who are especially talented in the Strategic theme create alternative ways to proceed. Faced with any given scenario, they can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues.
for me: This is the theme I understand the least. I have seen it when I am in Cabo and in my current position leading the Customer Service department of Turning Point. People who are consistently indecisive drive me crazy. I would rather work with people who put all their ideas/choices on the table (and who I can put my ideas on the table with) and then work through them. Quickly. Again, it’s about movement and making an impact.
Our homework for next week is to interview some people for feedback. I’m going to cheat a little and put the questions on this site. If you would respond, I would LOVE your feedback.
-
The questions, I would love for you to answer are:
1. Think about and describe a situation where you saw me at my best.
2. What was the setting and circumstances?
3. What “talent in action” or Strength did you see? What behaviors demonstrated this talent?
4. How did my talent affect others? What results occured?

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to answer :) Love Dee

journey to your heart

One must learn to love, and go through a good deal of suffering to get to it…and the journey is always towards the other soul.”

-D.H. Lawrence

Listen. Heart. Hope. Words striving to mean something, to capture the heart of the matter, to capture my heart.

Intimacy. That place where our fears rise to the surface. Will you reject me? Will you stay when I strip past the bright clothes and smile and you see my frailty, raw beauty and weakness? It can be a place of comfort and safety, but it can also become our darkest night.

I am brave and will continue to journey towards the heart of those God brings into my life, and sharing my own, whether the road takes me to safety or through the darkness. Darkness does not last. It has and will continue to be worth the risk. I am brave.

My body is a world of its own –

My body is a world of its own. Hands, feet, mouth and then there is all that is unseen. My beating heart, blood rushing through my veins, oxygen being breathed in, my brain… Staring out the window while eating supper, I contemplated the green of the plant outside. Vibrant. Differing shades and becoming dark as the sun sets behind the house.

I sometimes wonder, God, why did you create me? Today, I swept over this question and lingered in the knowledge that I am intricately fashioned. Someone took a great deal of care in creating me and the world in which I live. If my heart stopped beating, or any of the other basic functions of my body ceased, I would cease (or rather my life in this world). The world of my body is intricate, interwoven and inspired. It is the world I live in. It is a world of its own.

“You formed my inward parts…My frame was not hidden for you, when I was made…skillfully wrought…Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed…How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!” –excerpts from Psalm 139:13-17

My Prayer this A.M.

Calm me, O Lord, as you stilled the storm.

Still me, O Lord, keep me from harm.

Let all the tumult within me cease,

Enfold me, Lord, in your peace.
