The Interventionist by Joani Gammill
An emotionally gripping book about addiction. Taking the reader into the lives and stories of addicts and interventions. These insights are juxtaposed with the story of Joani, the interventionist, and her struggle with the disease of addiction.
She was a drug addict, alcoholic, prescription drug and illegal drug addict who lived in and through the hell and loneliness of addiction. Her words sweep you into the stories of addicts and their loved ones. The courage of these families to lovingly confront the damaging behavior of their loved one is inspiring. My take away was a deeper compassion and understanding of addiction, the havoc it brings & the power it holds over its victims.
