Book Review: Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank

What would happen if nuclear war broke out? Frank describes the extent of devastation through the eyes of a family fighting to survive before, during and after nuclear war. After the war, the value of things changes. Money is worthless and electrical appliances useless. Simple things like fire and salt become valuable. Society returns to hunting and gathering to survive. Experience this new found reality where some give up while others  push forward, forging a new way of life out of the rubble.

I’ve had this book for years. In our effort to conserve money, we are reading our stack of unread books before purchasing new ones. Pulling me in, Alas Babylon set the backdrop to the question, how would I react?
